About Genus Group
Genus Group are one of Australia’s leading service providers in the design, construction and maintenance of electricity transmission, electricity distribution and communications infrastructure. Their mission is to be the contractor of choice within the industries in which they operate, creating sector-leading returns, continuous improvement and innovation, and real-life value for their community, whilst exceeding industry expectations.
The challenge
Genus Group had experienced rapid expansion which resulted in a brand that was becoming difficult to manage.
The content and design of the website were outdated and didn’t reflect the professionalism of the company. Being listed on the ASX, the website needed to display the right information to keep investors informed.
Genus Group revised their brand architecture to bring all brands under one banner. Then, our work began to create a website that reflected this.
The solution
Discovery workshop
The project started with a discovery workshop and brand audit so that we could learn more about the business and its goals. Having this understanding meant that we could design and build a website with the purpose of meeting these objectives.Several key project goals became apparent:
- Bring all brands together under one umbrella
- Become an information hub for shareholders
- Showcase projects to attract new work.
Custom-designed and built website
Superior design
The new website was built with superior brand design in mind. To initiate the website design process, we started with tweaking the logo to modernise the design and upgraded the font type. We then got stuck into sprinkling our creative magic across the site.
Looking around the site, you’ll see features of the brand bringing the website to life, such as the hero slider icons, call-to-action buttons and widget styling all taking elements from the modernised logo.
The custom-designed icons seen on the website are also being used on printed materials such as corporate brochures and documents, creating a seamless brand experience from online to offline.
Overall, the new website sets a high standard for brand design and reinforces the brand's reputation for excellence.
User experience
The website's intuitive navigation and engaging content make it easy for visitors to learn about the brand's offerings. We opted for a simpler information architecture (IA) design, which has resulted in a less cluttered website, with the main service offering standing more prominent. Accordions are used across multiple content pages to provide an enhanced user experience.
Investor centre
The investor centre was designed to present important shareholder information in a visual way, By integrating with The ASX, the module pulls through key statistics automatically, producing an easy-to-navigate shareholder hub that doesn’t rely on manual updates.
Project map
As with most websites, one purpose is to attract new work. We designed a custom-built project hub so that Genus Group could showcase its experience in an engaging way. Site visitors can filter through the project based on the infrastructure, industrial service and communications. Titles, icons, and design elements of the project module all feature snippets of brand colour and design to keep consistency throughout the site and retain the professionalism achieved from the initial home page visit. The interactive map highlights the location of each project, with the ability to click on each location to reveal project details.
The results
The Marketing Manager now has an easy-to-use content management system making it quick to edit and easy to maintain, resulting in a website that is kept up to date.
The investor centre ticks all the boxes. It presents key shareholder information such as financial reporting and key dates, in a visually-appealing way.
The site was launched during the first week of August 2022. We merged six domains into one, which comes with a risk, but the results show it was done successfully.
Some notable statistics (from 08/08/2022 - 31/03/2023 vs the previous period) include:
- New sessions: +40.67%
- New users: +39.42%
- Goal conversion: +9,781.31%.
